Legacy
He didn’t leave very much any legacy of any sort. Just many memories and much unfulfilled potential.
He played the guitar and loved to sing. His taste of music was admirable for me.
He also loved to draw.
He’s also a good movie critique, albeit annoying at times with his spoilers.
He was passionate about things and was a dreamer in many ways.
But for some reasons. Maybe pressure. Maybe lack of guidance or inspiration, almost nth came out of this passion(s).
There are many ‘what if’s.
Passions can build relationships. And many relationships could have been strengthened.
There are regrets so I write this post. Things happened for a purpose. And I define that purpose myself. I will built from that ‘so called legacy of any sort.
Money and business
Money is a way to keep score. Money is a way to finance expansion. Money is a way to measure growth, provide incentive and reward success. It cannot be the prime reason my business will exist. We all want to make money. That’s a given. That’s ok, as long as it is a by-product of a great business that inspires me and others to excel.
bouncing off ideas
i have this idea to sell greeting cards that i have been bouncing off people for ground sensing. in marketing u can call it, field research or survey.
but i having doing these ground sensing without a clear structure or concept on how am i going to sell my greeting cards. yes no idea at all. prefacing that i have been reading on the current industry of greetings card on the internet. but, still no clue how i would like to sell them.
what i gotten from the many conversations were pretty good ideas, ideas that were owned by those people who might want to have a hand in this project.
so why greetings cards,
the overarching purpose of them all is, from my point of view, how meaningful it is to be able to create this platform for people to express themselves thoughtfully. key words are ‘express’ and ‘thoughtfully’.
express because everyone isn’t as articulate and vocal as they want to be; and this platform makes sure that they not shortchanged because of innate abilities ( this fundamental principle lies on the assumption that they wish to articulate themselves).
thoughtfully because when you write something you usually thought through it properly. more often than not, and i wish, that they may be from the bottom of the heart. and writing. as in writing with a pen, is so much more surreal. dont you think? hoo hoo, a little bit of self-indulgence here.
but anyway, who wants to help?
p.s. greeting cards and coffee, i think there’s a way for them to go hand in hand. any ideas?
where’s the passion lads II
what energizes you?
be it the potential benefits (money?),
be it the meaning you find (meeting people?),
be it the dream you hold dear (an ideal home?)
the most fundamental that i can ask of is for you all to stay alive and be energized
its a pretty simple 3 step process
1. Identify what energize you.
2. Drop those that does not energize you
3. Start

Balancing act.
between
personal and professional relationship
caring and developing
speed and precision
nice and firm on principles
how much do you struggle between a laundry list of balancing acts? if you are, how clear are you on your role?
its been a year
since i left hyatt.
its been 4 months since i became a public servant.
and as i reminisce
it feels like there’s a missing page in my starbucks chapter.
maybe because
i realise, no matter what you do, when your loved ones are not with you: that experience you can call, its only your own.
Excuses part ii
Yes I am good at giving excuses. As I mentioned in a previous post.
Now for the more serious part of the excuse giving spectrum.many a time, I give myself an excuse to self deny and make myself feel better.
Like how I didn’t do well in school I gave the excuse that I don’t really care. When the truth is otherwise, just that I guessed I won’t do as well even if I try my best.
Like how I lose a badminton game and tell myself I would have won if I train harder.
In other words, I was afraid to fail and disappoint and subject myself to the criticism of others. Or so I think.
So I think now it’s time to put these excuses to a stop. Or close to it.
Which translates to very simply, giving the best and not being afraid to fail. And wanting to experiment new ways of what may work is another added push.
Are you tired of giving excuses?
I guess not, because it’s so easy to give one.
‘Tomorrow, in a very real sense, your life — the life you author from scratch on your own — begins.
How will you use your gifts? What choices will you make?
Will inertia be your guide, or will you follow your passions?
Will you follow dogma, or will you be original?
Will you choose a life of ease, or a life of service and adventure?
Will you wilt under criticism, or will you follow your convictions?
Will you bluff it out when you’re wrong, or will you apologize?
Will you guard your heart against rejection, or will you act when you fall in love?
Will you play it safe, or will you be a little bit swashbuckling?
When it’s tough, will you give up, or will you be relentless?
Will you be a cynic, or will you be a builder?
Will you be clever at the expense of others, or will you be kind?
I will hazard a prediction. When you are 80 years old, and in a quiet moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we are our choices. Build yourself a great story. Thank you and good luck!’
